The popular annual Lord Mayor's Festival which welcomes the new Lord Mayor into their role will take place on Saturday 26th May from 10am to 4pm. The event will be sponsored by Rowes Honda and Rowes Suzuki.
With entertainment, community group performances, activities and workshops, this is the perfect family day out.
Come along to meet Tiny, a 125 million years young dinosaur brought to life by the wonders of modern science. Tiny will be appearing in the Piazza and you will be able to pet her, feed her and talk to her in dinosaur language...but watch out for the dreaded Thagomizer!
Young explorers will have the chance to uncover fossils in their own dinosaur dig and learn about prehistoric creatures in the Science Dome. Don't forget to follow the dino trail around the City Centre! This is sponsored by The Entertainer and dinosaur information is provided by the Earth Science team at Plymouth University.

A Science Dome will be offering half hour shows. The show includes immersive full dome 360 degree images of dinosaurs. A giant 360 degree projector is used to walk through a dinosaur landscape.
The show starts with time travel back to the Jurassic times and pictures of early earth landscapes. The programme then gives an interactive introduction to dinosaurs and talks about the fossils in the local Jurassic coast. 360 degree pictures of dinosaurs are used in the show.
The show ends with possible ways of dinosaur extinction such as a large meteorite. We then look at the stars using the planetarium. Observe many shooting stars and the night's sky.

The Box will be running a series of activities throughout the day:
Table Top Digs: Come and excavate dinosaur fossils and identify your finds! We will have boxes and tools at our ‘dig’ and a finds sheet for you to fill in. Our Natural History Curator will be on hand to answer your dinosaur questions.
Dino-Crafts: Come to The Box gazebo and make some free dinosaur-inspired crafts to take home. There will be a range of activities, suitable for all the family.
Curator Chat: The Box Natural History Curator (and dinosaur lover) will be explaining more about dinosaurs in history. He will also bring some of our fossil collection for you to view and handle.
There will be a trail around the city centre for children to take part using their Lord Mayor’s Festival leaflet. You will need to answer the questions themed around Dinosaurs by visiting the six points and reading the factual information about an individual dinosaur. Complete the trail for your chance to win some great prizes!
