Plymouth's Drake Circus is blooming this Summer
Plymouth's Drake Circus shopping centre, will be filled with giant flowers this Summer, turning the South West's leading shopping centre into a garden paradise.
The centre, which recently won a top national award for best customer service in the UK at the REVO - ACE Awards, worked with the award-winning Theatre Royal Plymouth team who manufacture and produce stages and sets for the Theatre Royal Plymouth, to create a Summer 'outdoor in' concept for the shopping centre.
The result is giant flowers which hang from the atrium, as well as floor level giant flower installations, which will act as flower seats, providing an interesting place to relax for people who come to shop at the centre's 70 top retail brands. The stunning Summer look also will provide a magical backdrop for the children's activities planned through the Summer.
"We are really excited at the creative response from the Theatre Royal Plymouth team," said Centre Director, Greg Lumley. "We challenged them to create an installation to reflect our new 'Freedom' campaign. The flowers look amazing - well worth coming into the centre to see. Our aim is to create a highly enjoyable and memorable visit and experience and this stand out Summer piece hits the mark and celebrates local creativity and collaboration.”
Seb Soper, Head of Project Development (Workshops) at Theatre Royal Plymouth said: “It’s great that we can work locally like this. We are designing, building and making all manner of projects all over the UK and the world. It’s always fantastic to see our work enhancing the city we live in. Yet another example of the how strong the creative industries are in Plymouth and we are always proud of the ever increasing portfolio of work we produce at TR2, the Theatre Royal Plymouth’s Production and Learning Centre in Cattedown.”
