Half Breed - Theatre Royal Plymouth
Tuesday 5 – Saturday 9 June
Nominated for best new play in the 2017 UK Theatre Awards, Half Breed comes to Theatre Royal Plymouth from Tuesday 5 – Saturday 9 June. Half Breed is Natasha Marshall’s partly autobiographical dark comedy about finding your voice, fighting for what you want and being fearless in who you are
Jazmin feels different. She doesn’t want to stay in the village. She doesn’t want to have a baby. She doesn’t want to laugh at racist jokes in the local pub. She’s got to get out.
When asked why taking Half Breed on tour around the UK was so significant to her, Natasha, who grew up in the West Country, said: ‘This tour is so important and vital for me. Growing up in a rural area and being in the minority, there was a lot of casual racism that I learnt to accept as normal. I’ll be taking Half Breed home, and that’s more than a performance, it’s a turning point for me on a personal level. This has never happened in my area before. People don’t speak about Half Breed highlights. I want Half Breed to challenge people’s perceptions. For anyone who identifies with the story I hope this brings them comfort in knowing they are not alone.’
Tickets are priced at £15 and can be booked online at www.theatreroyal.com or by calling the Theatre Royal Plymouth Box Office on 01752 267222.
