OCT 13th & 14th - Plymouth Guild Hall.

Last Sunday a record breaking 8.2 million people viewed the first instalment of the long awaited, new and hugely popular DOCTOR WHO Series, featuring ‘The’ First Ever Woman Doctor WHO, Jodie Whittaker.  And didn’t she do amazingly well folks.  The first episode saw the 13th Time Lord, fight with Aliens to save the world & ended with her in search of her lost Tardis.

Fear not, all is not lost, although it’s still floating around the vortex, the Terrific Tardis, along with not one but 2 Doctors, is due to land at Plymouth Guild Hall, this very weekend, at ‘DEVCON’s 2nd instalment of our City’s  Spectacular Sci-Fi, Toy, Film & Comic Fair.

The show has been a regular and highly successful Event that’s been running throughout the South West since 2013 and has been enjoyed by thousands of Families and Sci-Fi Fans alike.

This Event, is set to be no different, as it welcomes acclaimed actors Paul Mc Gann aka 8th Doctor & of Holby City Fame (Sat Only), Colin Baker aka 6th Doctor & John Altman aka EastEnders’s Nasty Nick & of Star Wars Fame, all of whom will be signing autographs for a fee & eager to meet fans and enthusiast of all ages.  Visitors will have the chance to have their photo taken with the Actors, next to our Giant Star Wars back drop or with the Tardis and the dastardly Daleks, plus hear tales of working in the Film industry.

The Event also features over 100 Terrific Traders Stands, selling everything from Highly Collectable Comics, Toys and even Swords, as well as all of the high street favourites, including, Clothing, Shoes, Jewellery, Gaming of all kinds and so much more.

‘This year we have the best selection of Traders & hugely talented Artist and Art works on sale, that we’ve ever had, including lots of new and never seen stands, all selling goods at discount prices.  The standard is so diverse and high, I’m really proud to have everyone on board with us.

I am always in awe of the many hundreds of visitors who come dressed as their favourite Comic or Film Super Hero, some of the costumes are truly marvellous master pieces and take months of dedication and skill to craft, it’s a festival of colour and imagination.

We welcome every one of every level to take part in Heat 1 of the ‘South West Cosplay Fancy Dress Competition’, which will be held in the Lower Guild Hall 12pm – 5pm.   For those who don’t want to be in the full spot light, there’s a Mini Masquerade that’s open for all to take part in and we encourage visitors of all ages and levels, to dress up and join the fun and fantasy, with a chance of great Prizes to be won.  Come and have a go at our new Lip Sync Challenge.  The Lower Hall will offer a day of great Tutorials, Q&A’s and Demonstrations, from a panel of Experts, who will be on hand to educate our visitors in Costume and Prop Making and all things ‘Cosplay’, there lots to learn and enjoy.

As an Event that’s always keen to involve the people of our wonderful Ocean City and promote education, this year we have been privileged to have lots of local shops involved, as well as Plymouth University and local colleges, who will be offering their advice and expertise as well as Tutorials in Art, Design and Game Making.

All in All DEVCON18, plans to offer a great and enjoyable couple of days, whilst raising funds and awareness for our worthy and dedicated charity FAMILIES FOR CHILDREN ADOPTION.  Join us, in helping to Create Smiles and Make A Difference to children’s lives.
