Public consultation on scheme improvements
Plymouth’s premier shopping destination, Drake Circus, is pleased to support the public consultation being undertaken as part of plans to enhance Old Town Street.
The proposals have been developed in collaboration with Plymouth City Council as part of the Better Places Plymouth Project, realising a rare opportunity to comprehensively enhance this significant area of the city centre and contribute to the city’s vitality.
The plans include the sensitive improvement of Norwich Union House, the reinvigoration of the public realm, as well as the introduction of six retail pavilions to showcase a new variety of retailers within the city centre.
Centre Director, Greg Lumley said: “We’re delighted that British Land in collaboration with Plymouth City Council recognise the need for investment in Plymouth to help the city centre reach its full potential.”
“We’re encouraging local residents, businesses and stakeholders to visit the Centre to view the exhibition and take the opportunity to participate in the planning process. The Better Places Plymouth project aims to enhance the city centre and we welcome Plymouth residents having the chance to input on the city’s future plans.”
The exhibition will take place in Drake Circus Shopping Centre, Eastlake Street entrance outside Bill’s, on Friday (10am-6pm) and Saturday (10am-2pm).
